circles 2009
Circles is a piece based around the relationships of tones found in the circle of 5ths. It is an ambient music box created using an arduino, a speaker, and a light sensore. The sound begins to play when the lid is opened, and the only button allows one to reset the circle of tones. The sounds were created with my own diy modular synthesizer and are approximately 1.5 minute drones that travel around the circle of 5th in succession. The mandala painted on the top is a nod towards the the meditative qualities of music and tonal relationships.
